Simple Ways to Optimize Your Donation Page to Improve Fundraising Results

Here are four simple yet effective ways to optimize your online donation page to boost your fundraising results:

  1. Use dynamic asks.
    Nudge donors to give more by using your online fundraising or customer relationship management (CRM) software to automatically present ask levels based on each donor’s previous gift amount. For example, if a donor last donated $20, start ask levels for that donor at $20, or even $25. For new donors, use your organization’s average donation amount for the starting ask level.
  2. Ask to make it a recurring gift.
    Use a pop-up box to give donors the option to make their donation a recurring gift, with convenient monthly payments charged automatically to their credit card. This approach encourages donors to remain donors longer and to give more over time.
  3. Ask donors to cover transaction fees.
    When someone gives through your online donation form, you’re typically charged a transaction fee by your payment processor, which effectively reduces the money you receive by a percentage (often 3% or more). Give donors the option to cover the cost of transaction fees, and you can re-capture some of those funds that would otherwise be lost.
  4. Use a matching gift tool.
    Research shows that 84% of donors say they’re more likely to donate if a match is offered. Add a matching gift tool to your donation form to make it easier to take advantage of corporate matching programs and boost your fundraising campaign results. There are multiple matching gift tools available that you can easily embed on your web pages and donation forms.
